The following condition report was kindly provided by Simon Parkes Art Conservation, Inc.: This painting is in beautiful and seemingly untouched condition. The canvas is unlined. The paint layer looks well although it is most likely slightly dirty and dry. The paint layer has developed stretcher marks around the edge, which could be eliminated if the canvas were to be lined. There appear to be no retouches and it seems more than likely that apart from a couple of blemishes in the upper center and some cracks in the belly in the double bass, no restorations will be necessary.
