Condition

The following condition report was kindly provided by Simon Parkes Art Conservation, Inc.: This painting has never been lined or removed from its stretcher, which his unusual for a work by this artist. The paint layer is visibly dirty and will respond well to cleaning. This particular kind of Corot has been painted with a lot of very thin and suggestive glazes, which may be slightly worn in the dark tree mass in the center. The sky, the foreground and the left side seem to be in good state, but the condition in the center is a little delicate and care should be taken when cleaning. Some retouches may be required when the picture has been cleaned.
"This lot is offered for sale subject to Sotheby's Conditions of Business, which are available on request and printed in Sotheby's sale catalogues. The independent reports contained in this document are provided for prospective bidders' information only and without warranty by Sotheby's or the Seller."
