STRUCTURE Original canvas. The canvas is loose in some areas, particularly along the lower section of the canvas and may benefit from restretching. CATALOGUE COMPARISON The catalogue illustration is broadly representative. PAINT SURFACE The paint surface is dirty and would benefit from a light clean. There is a broad craquelure pattern throughout the sky which is stable. There are two small flecks of paint loss to the trees off the right border and stretcher marks are visible to the centre and off the left and right borders. ULTRAVIOLET UV light reveals one small patch of retouching to frame abrasions in the upper left corner. FRAME Held in a plain wooden frame in fair condition.
