Condition

STRUCTURE This picture is relined and in good condition. CATALOGUE COMPARISON The image is broadly representative. PAINT SURFACE Good overall condition with rich colouring and fine detail throughout. There are no visible signs of craquelure and the paint surface appears to be stable. The picture is clean and ready to hang. UNDER ULTRAVIOLET LIGHT There are flecked retouchings throughout which appear to be cosmetic repairs to craquelure. There are also small areas of more localised retouching; around the seated boy, in the water in the foreground at the lower left and in an area at the top of the crags. The retouchings have been well executed and are not visible to the naked eye. FRAME This picture is contained in moulded plaster frame.
