Catalogue Note

Published in Ptolemy's La Geografia, these maps are usually attributed to the translator, Girolamo Ruscelli. The majority of the maps in this work were copied from Giacomo Gastaldi, but this new map was the first double-hemisphere to appear in an atlas. America is shown joined to Eurasia.
