Catalogue Note

a very good copy. This copy contains the portrait of G.B. Piranesi after Joseph Cades, which replaces the portrait by Polanzani, and the dedication to Lord Charlemont is replaced by the dedication to the King of Sweden, Gustav III. Some copies of this work after 1787 occasionally contain three additional plans (see Focillon p.24) at the end of volume 1 and this copy contains two of them.
