Catalogue Note

rare views of sicily. There is only one auction record for a copy of both volumes of this work in over thirty years. The book was published in twenty four parts, and is "the most ambitious of the coloured aquatint books edited by J.F. d'Ostervald" (Abbey).

The plate list calls for one map only, but the Abbey copy and the dedication copy of the first volume both contained a second map of Sicily.
