Catalogue Note

Brion de la Tour's general map of the northern American colonies is one of the earliest published continental maps relating to the American Revolution. The map of Suriman is a scarce broadsheet map of the Dutch colony by the surveyor Alexandre de Lavaux. It gives a detailed delineation of the plantations laid out along the course of the rivers inland from the sea.
