Catalogue Note

The author, who was a counsellor of Maria Theresa, to whom the work is dedicated, states in the preface that he spent many years in the Levant, however this work is not so much an account of his travels, but rather an historical account of Cyprus, Jerusalem, Armenia and Egypt, together with an account of the Ottoman Empire and of Greece. The volumes are illustrated with "very good maps of Greece, Egypt, Cyprus and Palestine." (Blackmer)
