Catalogue Note

The `Nelson' service was probably presented to Nelson in 1802 by the City of London. In that year Nelson was invited to ride in the Lord Mayor's coach in the inaugrual procession of the Lord Mayor. The service is a mixture of both Coalport and Paris porcelain with all of it being decorated in London. Another plate from the service was sold Sotheby's London, Trafalgar, Nelson and the Napoleonic Wars, 5th October 2005, lot 90
