Description

of baluster form, the body incised with peony and chrysanthemums beneath a neck pierced with a circle flanked by two hearts, 19.5cm., 7¾in., some restoration and haircracks; and a Whieldon-type bowl, circa 1760, streaked in manganese, blue, green and ochre, 17.5cm., 7in. wide, later wood stand

Condition

Puzzle jug- restoration to lower part of the handle where it joins the body. All 3 nozzles have been restored. Some restoration to rim and some restored cracks to the neck. Three haircracks to the rim, each approx. 1½in.. Haircrack from edge of one pierced heart, approx. ¾in.Small area of glaze loss to the body, approx. 3mm. square. Fine haircrack to edge of pierced circle, approx. ½in. Two fine glaze starcracks just above the footrim.The pierced circle looks unconvincing and may originally have been another heart which has sustained damage. Bowl- minor surface scratches to interior but overall in good condition.
