Description

  • Stobwasser, Brunswick, circa 1825-30
  • diameters 9.8 and 10cm, 3 7/8 and 4in
circular, the first painted with a portrait of the violinist wearing the Cross of the Order of Malta, the second with the composer after Johann-Stephan Decker, the first with lid and base numbered: 776, the second with base numbered: 4052, each lid titled, the first base with Mark IX, the second base with Mark VI

Condition

Paganini: Very good condition. Small loss to edge of base, approx 5mm long. Small area of restoration to lid edge at 5 o'clock, with a small faint spot nearby which is possibly an area of restoration (visible in catalogue photo). Two faint scratches to lid. Beethoven: Overall good condition. Some wear. Minor restorations to edges. The base with faint crackling to varnish.
