signed G. Poitevin, decorated with an elaborate gilt cartouche enclosing a gallant and two ladies on a garden terrace, the reverse with a palace view set against a green ground, the ormolu handles shaped as swans heads, the square base set on four claw feet

Catalogue Note

Georges-Emile Poitevin is listed by W.Neuwirth, Porzellanmaler-Lexicon 1840-1914, as a porcelain painter working in Paris in the 1870's. Trained by his father, he took part in several Salons from 1878 onwards.
