Description

  • Geneva, maker's mark AI crowned incuse, possibly for Antoine Joly, circa 1790
  • diameter 6cm, 2 3/8 in
circular with later convex lid, the surface enamelled in translucent royal blue over wavy engine-turning and richly applied with polychrome paillons, the lid in a concentric scale pattern, the sides and base with classical urns and festoons, simulated pearl and white line borders

Condition

There are losses and restoration to enamel at sides. The lid enamel with cracks. There are restorations to the faux pearl borders, which has caused some of them to dis-colour. The overall effect is nevertheless positive, and the paillons are well-done, especially at the base.
