circular, the lid centred with a chased hunting scene within a reed and mullet engraved border, further borders of entwining ribbon, wood lining; and a gold-mounted ivory commemorative box, probably French, early 19th century, circular, the lid inset with a mother of pearl and seed pearl temple of Love inscribed with initials LC and ME, chased gold frame, tortoiseshell lining

Condition

First box: Generally good condition and crisp. The lid and base don't fit together perfectly, due to minor warping over time. Please note: This box is constructed of a thin sheet of gold over a wood core. In other words, there is less gold than would normally be expected. Second box: There is an age crack to side of lid at 7 o'clock, and a small crack to edge of lid rim at 11 o'clock. The tortoiseshell lining of the lid interior has warped and cracked with a small loss. The seed pearl lid medallion is in excellent condition and attractive.
