Description

  • Bindenschild in underglaze-blue, impressed (18) 39 and 84

the first decorated with a geometric pattern of floral garlands in gold against a deep blue ground, the second decorated with formal neo-classical decoration of two Griffins flanking a pair of classical busts, the saucer with baskets of flowers flanked by Griffins, alternating with classical trophies

Condition

Left cup in catalogue illustration: There is a small flat chip to the rim of the saucer (visible in catalogue illustration at 7 o'clock). There are some scattered, very minor spots of wear to the gilding on the saucer. Right cup in catalogue illustration: There are two small and one tiny, narrow areas of rubbing to the edge of the burnished gilt well of the saucer (where the cup stands - one visible in catalogue illustration at 10 o'clock), and some typical scattered surface scuffs to gilding overall. Otherwise generally in good condition.
