- Birmingham, circa 1760
- width 7.7cm, 3in
rectangular with bombé sides, the lid transfer-printed and painted with a courting musical couple, the sides with pastorals, the interior of the lid inset with a portrait of a lady, school of Bernard Lens, her arm raising and lowering her fan by means of a pull concealed in the reeded gilt-metal mount
Condition
Generally very good condition. There are hair cracks to the lid (visible in catalogue photo). The miniature is in excellent condition but with particles of dirt and paint between it and the glass; mechanism functions well. Area of restoration to interior of front side near mount. Minor wear to corners of base. This box is very well-painted and attractive.
