A low table 17th century

carved oak and walnut, with a later rectangular top above a frieze drawer with a raised rectangular panel, the lower section with later arcaded stretchers flanking spirally turned legs joined by spirally turned stretchers with finials; formerly a stand for a cabinet, alterations 

A useful lot. The key thing about this lot is that it would have supported a chest or cabinet. The inset piece of wood to the top slides out and there is a shallow space where this upper section would have sat. There is a small gap that runs around this inset top. The decoration is very nice and attractive. It is stable although at some stage there has been repairs to the legs. There is also traces of worm.
