carved walnut, with an overhanging top, above a pair of cupboard doors with raised rectangular panels, enclosing a shelf, above two drawers and a further pair of cupboard doors also enclosing a shelf, with panelled sides with an iron handle, on bracket feet

Very good overall condition. All the doors have some signs of shrinkage and one door has a crack in it. The back left hand corner of the cornice has been replaced. The drawer handles are bent. There are many old wood worm holes throughout.

The pure lines and harmonious proportions of this small armoire make this an interesting and very well balanced piece of furniture. The handles on the side and the reduced depth would seem to indicate that it was conceived as an armoire for every day use to be moved around.
