A carved oak chest, Normandy late 15th/early 16th century

with vertical rectangular panels depicting the four Apostles Peter, James, Thomas and Paul within tracery niches, with linenfold sides and on bracket feet

Decorative. There has been some restoration to the top including the addition of side rails. The lock plate and iron work are later - but appropriate. There is a small old aperture in the top of the front left panel. The interior with races of a former till. Behind the lock plate on the interior is a lot of fragmenting. There are old marks and scratches throughout, consistent with age and use, with some minor losses to carving and worm damage.
