STRUCTURE
Original canvas and the structure is sound.
CATALOGUE ILLUSTRATION
The catalogue illustration is broadly representative but the discoloured varnish is more apparent in reality.
PAINT SURFACE
The paint surface is very dirty and covered with a a discoloured varnish; the work will benefit hugely from professional cleaning. There is also traces of a surface stain between the two dogs, lower centre.
ULTRAVIOLET
reveals no sign of restoration or retouching.
FRAME
Held in the original plaster gilt frame with areas of missing gilt.
