Catalogue Note
The present work dates from the most celebrated period of Liljefors's career and depicts his best-loved subject, a hunter with his prey. Standing proudly over his kill, Värdshusarn, an old local hunter who Liljefors had known since childhood cleans the barrel of his gun. From early childhood Liljefors was a keen hunter with an immense love and respect for animals and his native countryside.
