  • Study of a head, probably a self-portrait

Condition

The actual painting is a bit warmer in tone than the catalogue illustration suggests. The single panel is bevelled along the lower edge and two wooden strips are attached to the sides. The panel is slightly bowed to the top. The paint surface is in good condition and the handling of the paint is very well visible. Inspection under UV-light reveals a few retouchings, especially in the lower right, minor spots of retouching in the face and strengthening of the hair upper right. Offered in an ebony wood frame, as illustrated in the catalogue, in good condition. (JD)
