STRUCTURE
Both canvases have been lined.
PAINT SURFACE
Both paintings appear to be in good clean condition. There is some very light and minor cracquelure in isolated areas on both paintings in keeping with age.
ULTRAVIOLET
Ultraviolet light reveals minor re-touching to the lower left, the sails and central sky area of "man-of-war aground " and re-touchings to the centre and right of the sky to "fishing boats off the coast".
FRAME
Both held in ornate gilt wood frames.
