constitué d'un assemblage de perles de fer et de laiton et d'un coquillage conus, se prolongeant à une extrémité par un pendentif en forme d'éventail, et à l'autre par trois rangées de perles terminées par des pendeloques. Belle patine d'usage.



Ce lourd collier était porté par les femmes Himba de Namibie en âge de se marier. Le pendentif retombant dans le dos pour faire contrepoids pouvait également être rapporté sur la tête. Le précieux coquillage (Conus sp.) porté sur la poitrine était traditionnellement transmis de mère en fille, tandis que les perles en fer étaient considérées comme un symbole de prospérité.

Condition

Good condition overall. Wear consistent with age and use within the culture. Leather strap at upper right of flaring pendant slightly frayed, as evidenced by the catalogue illustration. Please note that there is a metal key ring at the end of each nut finial, and a key on the middle one -- not visible in the catalogue illustration.
