- 50 in
sculptée sur toute la longueur de la défense, l'extrémité taillée en pointe de flèche et profondément gravée de rainures parallèles. L'embouchure est délicatement sculptée en losange, dont le motif se répète au dos. Belle patine crème, avec veinures de l'ivoire apparentes; brun rouge à l'extrémité.

Catalogue Note
Insignes de pouvoir royal, les trompes Mangbetu étaient utilisées à la cour pour les danses ou pour annoncer une victoire militaire. A la mort d'un chef, on les enduisait d'un mélange d'huile de palme et d'ocre rouge afin de les revitaliser (Brincard, 1990 : 154). Cette trompe se distingue par sa dimension spectaculaire.
