- 40 in
eben, à grande lame foliacée en laiton décorée à jour de pointillés et de losanges. Le manche en ivoire, de section quadrangulaire, est terminé par un anneau métallique partiellement recouvert de cuir. Belle patine d'usage.
Les grands sabres d'apparat étaient portés traditionnellement par les hauts dignitaires du Royaume de Benin ou par l'Oba lui-même, en l'honneur de son père défunt.

Good condition overall. Wear consistent with age and use within the culture.
Blade slightly warped, mainly on either side at the widest point. Blade somewhat weathered, as evidenced by the catalogue illustration. Some stitching to leather binding on finial missing.
