sculptée dans un tronc d'arbre fourchu, présentant sept échelons massifs en forme d'encoche. Belle régularité des volumes et du bois noueux, à patine brillante sur les parties sollicitées.
Les échelles étaient utilisées par les Dogon pour accéder aux cavernes creusées le long de la falaise ou pour atteindre les autels nichés dans la façade en terre de la maison du chef de lignage.

Good condition overall. Wear consistent with age and use within the culture. Natural cracks to the wood. Base eroded, as evidenced by the catalogue illustration. Each step shows wear.
