Description

  • Rare boîte en ivoire, royaume de Benin
  • long. 30,5 cm
  • 12 in

Condition

Good condition overall. Wear consistent with age and use within the culture. The lid rests on the base, but is slightly warped. An old minor loss to the upper surface of lid, approximately 1.5cm long (patinated). Some dark patches of patina on upper surface of lid, as evidenced by the catalogue illustration. A few old losses to the inner rims, the longest of which is on the base, approximately 9cm by 6mm.
