en bois, de forme rectangulaire, plaqué de feuilles d'argent découpées à jour fixées par des clous d'argent et de laiton. Les feuilles d'argent sont délicatement incrustées de motifs (cercles, losanges, cœurs et feuilles) en laiton et cuivre. Le fermoir en laiton doré est d'origine saharienne tandis que le mécanisme de la serrure est européen. Belle patine d'usage.



Deux anneaux en laiton fixés à la base permettaient aux nomades Touaregs de transporter le coffret lors des pèlerinages à la Mecque.

Good condition overall. Wear consistent with age and use within the culture. Minor break and narrow cracks to the bottom of the trunk, with indigenous repair. Some minor losses to the silver.
