Catalogue Note

The sculptor Adam acquired these statues from the heirs of Cardinal de Polignac, who had earlier hired him to repair them when both were in Rome. Adam used them to form the nucleus of a larger collection which he has illustrated here. This work was intended to serve as a catalogue of casts which could be purchased.
