Catalogue Note

Shafts with the so-called "St Andrews bend" were originally made from a straight piece of wood that was purposely curved through heat and presssure. Compston's "100%" shaft and integral wooden grip, however, was cut to shape from a large piece of timber. Less than ten examples are known. To see other Patrick clubs, please go to lots 57 and 191.
