Catalogue Note
This is the only known club of this kind. Robertson was a self-described "medical practitioner." His patent clubs were originally produced in a set, costing 29 shillings, and consisting of two shafts - the longer shaft used to screw into a driver, brassie and a cleek, and the shorter shafted used for fitting to an iron, mashie or putter and could even be adapted for used as a walking stick! Here, a patent putter from this extraordinary invention has survived intact.
