To be sold together with Reclining Figure, pencil, by the same hand.
These two drawings are from a larger group acquired by the present owner from a dealer in Paris. The drawings were originally made by O’Conor in sketch books, on paper of different weights, and they are spontaneously and briskly drawn from observation. Drawings of females, both clothed and unclothed, occur frequently and in a few cases it is possible to link his sketch book drawings to known paintings. From the informal nature of these drawings, and their subject matter, it would appear that he frequently picked up a sketch book when his model was taking a break from one of the longer poses associated with a studio painting.
