  • A GOLD-SPLASHED BRONZE CENSER AND LATER WOOD COVER XUANDE MARK, 17TH/18TH CENTURY

the shallow bombe sides supported on three pointed feet, below the short waisted neck and flared rim set with a pair of upright loop-handles, liberally decorated overall with thick irregular gold splashes on the ground patinated to a warm brown tone, the base cast with a six-character Xuande mark intaglio lotus scroll surmounted with a lingzhi carved loop

Condition

The cover is damaged with some losses to the openwork on the wood cover over an area of 3.5cm by 1.5cm near the rim of the cover, which is split and has been restruck. The censor is in good condition and there is a repair to one handle
