Description

  • AN IMPRESSIVE PAIR OF MID 19TH CENTURY FRENCH EBONISED AND ORMOLU MOUNTED MEUBLE D'APPUI, LOUIS PHILIPPE PERIOD (1830 - 1848)
  • marked to rear of the fruit panels with a motif and 1836, 107.5cm wide, 107.5cm deep, 142.50cm high
each with a rectangular black marble top situated over an ornate frieze with pietre dura plaques depicting fruits and flanked by ormolu floliate garlands, leaf and scroll borders, above a single door with  central marble panel overlaid with polychrome flowers in variegated hardstones including lapis lazuli, agate, jasper, cornelian and chalcedony, within multiple ormolu borders and mask head surmounts to side pilasters with acanthus leaf terminals, the shaped base with applied  mask head and rosettes, cherubs and foliate enhancements to sides
