17th century
the creamy-white stone with opaque inclusions carved in the form of a bearded sage standing with head tilted to one side, draped in loose-fitting robes finely incised with lotus and cloud scrolls within wave borders and tied at the waist just below the rounded belly, with one arm held by the side hidden beneath the long sleeves, the other holding up a lingzhi spray over his left shoulder, the face with benevolent expression framed by elongated earlobes suspending small hoop earrings, all on a grey jade rockwork base
