The following condition report was kindly provided by Simon Parkes Art Conservation, Inc.: This painting has been lined. The cracking is still slightly raised in the sky yet the paint layer is stable. There have been a few retouches which have been added, in the sky on the right side particularly, and to a lesser degree on the left side in the water. However, few restorations have been added a generally and in the ship itself there are none. Some of the restorations are a little sloppy and exaggerated, and the lining is not perfectly successful; one could reconsider this conservation.
