STRUCTURE:
This picture is relined (a transcription of the title and signature has been copied onto the lining) and in good overall condition with strong colours throughout. There is scattered craquelure visible on close inspection and two small spots of paint loss in the mountains upper right and on the rock lower left, otherwise, the paint surface appears to be stable. Retouchings to the craquelure are visible to the naked eye in some areas.
UNDER ULTRAVIOLET LIGHT:
Examination under ultraviolet light reveals scattered areas of retouching, primarily in the sky and background.
FRAME:
Contained in a decorative moulded gilt frame (with minor damages).
SUMMARY:
The picture may benefit from localised treatment to some of the old retouchings which have discoloured and to the two small holes.
