Description

- signed and dated 15 July 1872 in Cyrillic l.r.
- oil on canvas
- 72 by 92.5cm., 28¼ by 36½in.
Condition
The painting is in a stable and good condition, clean and ready to hang. The canvas appears to be unlined. There is a small patch to the reverse on the lower right centre edge. There are fine lines of craquelure to the paint surface in places, mainly in the sky. Examination under UV reveals a 2.5cm. diameter spot l.r. corresponding to the patch on the reverse and some further minor flecks along the left and right hand edges and a few scattered in the sky. The brush strokes visible under UV probably relate to a recently brushed synthetic varnish. Held in a metal leafed gilded frame. Unexamined out of frame.
