- height: 10cm., 43 1/4 in; width without sconces: 54cm., 211/4 in
elaborately decorated in rococo style, the lower portion with open grillwork, central ornament flanked by two mounted candelabrum each with three branches applied with floral and foliate design
Condition
A very attractive piece in apparent good condition.
There appears to be a firing crack to the left gilded rim just above the left sconce and another underneath the rocaille detail above the right sconce. Some wear to the gilding. There are further firing cracks especially to the lower portion of the mirror. The lower tip of the mirror appears to have been damaged slightly which does not detract from the overall appearance of the piece. There is some wear to the ormolu sconces.

Catalogue Note
The Imperial Porcelain Manufactory produced a variety of decorative works in rococo style to decorate the palaces in Nicholas I's reign. The porcelain wall sconces from Gatchina Palace are excellent examples, but the mirror offered here is equally noteworthy. It is very unusual to find a mirror complete with ormolu sconces to be offered at auction.
