Catalogue Note

In 1878 Fedor Bukhgolts entered the St. Petersburg Academy of Fine Arts where he studied under P. P. Chistiakov and V. I. Iacobi, receiving the title of Artist of the Second Rank in 1886. Between 1893 and 1910 Bukhgolts taught at the Drawing School of the Society for the Encouragement of the Arts. He took part in the exhibitions organized by the Peredvizhniki (Wanderers).
