Natan Altman was an important Russian painter, sculptor and designer of the early 20th century. His career was exceptionally diverse, for he worked in numerous disciplines, media, styles and genres. These portraits are typical of his earliest oeuvre, when he experimented with pointillism from 1908 to 1909.
