a russian silver second course dish from the "paris service" of empress elizabeth, johann friedrich köpping, st. petersburg, 1767

with shaped molded border, engraved with the Russian imperial eagle armorials, the reverse stamped and engraved no. 721.

This service was originally ordered by Empress Elizabeth Petrovna, and supplied by the eminent Paris goldsmith Francois-Thomas Germain in the late 1750's. Additions to the service, such as the present example,  were produced in St. Petersburg by Johann Friedrich Köpping in the late 1760's.
