- length 10 1/2 in. 26.6 cm
the interior repoussé and chased with the Imperial cypher of Empress Elizabeth Petrovna on an Imperial eagle, the handle applied with a portrait bust of the Empress, the prow surmounted by an Imperial eagle, the outside inscribed, "Presented by Empress Elizabeth, Autocrat etc. of all Russia, July 28th, 1744, to Sergeant-Major Ivan Ilovaisky of the Donskoi Regiment, for exemplary service, further engraved under the handle, "Ivan Ilovaisky," marked with initials of assay-master Kuzma Grigoriev and with unidentified maker's mark, apparently Postnikova-Losseva no.2322.
