Catalogue Note

Evegeny Mikhailovich Konkin, a succesful wine and spirit merchant in Riga, supported many young Russian artist including Konstantin Gorbatov. The present lot was a gift from the artist to his mentor and is closely related to Gorbatov's painting Lielupe in the Latvian National Art Museum in Riga (fig.1). Both paintings depict views near Jurmala, a resort town between the Gulf of Riga and the Lielupe River.
