Condition

The canvas has been lined. There is a layer of surface dirt and discoloured varnish. There are lines of craquelure throughout. Examination under UV reveals areas of retouching to the sky, particularly a large area n the centre visible to the naked eye, and also infilling to craquelure on the sea and to the edges of the work. Held in a simple wooden frame. Unexamined out of frame.
