Condition
The actual painting is less bright than the catalogue illustration suggests.The canvas is unlined. Discoloured retouchings are visible to the naked eye, especially in the background areas, the man's face and in the lady's drapery. Otherwise, the paint surface is in good and clean condition.
Inspection under UV-light confirms abovementioned retouchings as well as scatterred retouchings throughout. Offered in a later gilt wood frame, in fair condition.(JD)
