- An Italianate rocky landscape with a shepherd and his herd resting

- 34.5 by 43.5 cm.
Condition
The actual painting is significantly darker in tone than the catalogue illustration suggests. The canvas has been relined. The paint surface is flattened, due to the stiff relining. Some older paint losses along the edges have been crudely over painted. The paint surface is slightly abraded, mainly in the brownish tones. There is a slight tendency towards cupping in places, e.g. in the sky. The paint surface is under a layer of discoloured varnish. Inspection under ultra violet light is impeded by the thick varnish layer. Offered in a decorative, carved gilt wood frame with a glass plate, in good condition. (MW)
