Catalogue Note
Stylistically the present figure is based on a group of mid 14th century, Île-de-France Gothic marble Virgins, such as the 'Vierge à Enfant' in the Musée de Cluny from the Ancienne Abbaye de Longchamp (Cl. 18762), a similar group in the Musée de Louvre (inv. 147. donation Arconati Visconti, 1914) and another one in St. Denis, assumedly all from the same artist or workshop.
